The nail biting way we get horses to Norfolk

This is Topaz - Lexi & Brianna's 14hh Quarter Horse mare arriving at Norfolk Island from New Zealand. As the sea conditions were bad - the unloading of the ship was discontinued and the only cargo offloaded was Topaz in her box. Ordinarily, there are not 2 lighters tied together but they did on this occasion to bring the boys back in off the ship when work stopped.

The horse box can be seen to the left of the crane - the small greenish box on deck. Lexi anxiously awaits

The launch tows a lighter with the horse box inside in to the pier

The horse box is hooled up to the crane which lifts it up onto the pier

Lexi & Jimbo take a peek

First meeting of horse & new owners

The man in the pink shirt came with the horse from NZ to care for her enroute

Topaz is led from the box up the pier out the way

Vet check for Topaz before she is allowed to go home
